Beach Club
Weekend hang-out. Beach on the Moscow River near Metro Vodniy Stadion. Beach volley and outdoor gym. Very nicely done. Restaurant with quality food and nice décor. Turns into nightclub in the evening. Towel+chair 1000 roubles for the day in the open-for-all area. The other side of the beach is members-only VEE AY PEE.

Although we actually only went there once, I think this place is worth a place in our recommended list. We just loved the mystical feel of the Philip Starck interiors.

Duma
We were introduced to this place thanks to Natasha. Kind of members' place with great food at very reasonable prices. Completely free of any prestige-factor. Outdoor veranda was very popular place to watch the world soccer championships or any other sports events summer time. Mayak
Restaurant located in the mayakovskiy theater. Great food and wine for the price, the chicken liver salad is our favorite. Bohemian, theatrical feel with a mixture of expats and russians. Can be a bit smoky. Usually has live performances on weekends.

Our new favourite: a non smoking restaurant, where you sit close at small tables, (so you actually can talk over dinner) great food is served by knowledgeable and friendly staff! Try the yellowtail sashimi with jalapenos for starter and the clack cod for main - yum!

Petrovich
Member club a la soviet kitsch. Great friendly atmosphere, mixed ages and nationalities although predominantly Russians. Neighbouring tables will likely come to talk to you, especially after a couple of vodkas. Wonderful russian food at a steal price. We love the silyodka pod shuboy (herring under fur) and other russian classics. Turns into a nightclub with people of all ages, i mean all ages, dancing on the stage, tables etc. Need to be booked well in advance by a member.

Expat meeting point number one in the summer. We really just go there during summer season when the outdoor restaurant is open and its nice to sit outside and say hello to all your friends who also sit there.

Great food - dont leave without trying the tige shrimps in wasabi sause and the tofu with spinach - to die for! the crab salad is fantastic as well. Late on friday and saturday nights there are girls dancing on the bar - so this is not the place for a calm first date, but instead a preparty place to go with a group of people. The y have a bransh in St Petersburg as well.

Soho Rooms
Great resto, great bar and great night club in a very trendy setting. Fusion food at reasonable prices for being an elitny place. Opened up in early 2008. Very strict fejs kontrolj. The place to be since Dyagilev burned down.

Tsar's Hunting Lodge
This is one of Novikovs first resturants with the best traditional Russian food and fantastic service. Made like a hunting lodge, all staff wears Russian costume. Go for sunday lunch with friends or a family dinner. Calssic place where Yeltsin took all visiting presidents. One could also call it Elki-Palki de luxe.
